Coronado Boathouse & The Bridge

This is the lovely view you see on Avenida Del Sol, near Orange Avenue.  The historic building with a red shingled roof is the Coronado Boathouse, and you can see the Coronado Bay Bridge rising in the distance.

I get many of my beach photos at the end of Avenida Del Sol, behind the Hotel Del Coronado.  It's a favorite hang out for surfers and beach walkers.  I recommend riding a bike or going there on foot, as the parking is very limited.

It is so nice to be back home in sunny Coronado!

The Coronado Yacht Club And The Shores

There is a lot going on at this end of Coronado- in the foreground you see boats docked at the Coronado Yacht Club, then just behind the masts is the red peaked roof of the Boat House restaurant, and in the background are the tall contemporary buildings of The Shores condominium complex.  If we could leap over the the condos, we'd land right on the beach next to the Pacific Ocean.  How's that for location?

The Boat House

The Boat House was built in 1887, a year before construction began on the Hotel Del Coronado across the street.  It was designed by the same men, and is said to have been an exercise in building practice before constructing the Hotel Del.  Today the Boat House is a locally owned restaurant.
