June Gloom

June gloom is upon us, but I think the thick marine layer just adds a quiet, reflective feel to our usually sunny town.

I shot this photo from outside the Coronado Recreation Center; you can make out the boats from the Coronado Yacht Club, with the Coronado Municipal Golf Course peeking out from behind, and of course the omnipresent San Diego skyline looming in the distance.

You may have noticed I've been spotty about posting this summer... it's funny how a little thing like school vacation can throw an entire household schedule into disarray (mostly in a fun way), but I'm ready to start posting photographs of our little island community again.

Hope you'll stop by tomorrow!

Golf Anyone?

Even though it was gray and cloudy yesterday, there were plenty of golfers out on the greens in Coronado.  They have the right idea.  It always clears up in a couple hours, and the fresh air gives you such an energy boost!

I haven't checked, but I'll bet all the tee times for this weekend are reserved... maybe we'll try a nice game of putt-putt?

Have a wonderful weekend, and soak up the rejuvenating effects of Spring!

Coronado Golf Course

The Coronado Municipal Golf Course has an impressive view of the San Diego Bay as well as the Coronado Bridge.  These golfers are honing their skills on the putting green.

I shot this Sunday morning after breakfast in the Club House.

The best part of this Golf Course?  It's open to the public!

Coronado Bridge At Sunset

I love the colors at the Golf Course at sunset, with the Coronado Bridge reaching over the Bay to San Diego in the background.

Glorietta Bay

Looking inland from Glorietta Bay, you can see the Hotel Del Coronado on the far left, the Coronado Yacht Club in the center frame, and a bit of the Coronado Municipal Golf Course on the right.  This is a fun area of Coronado, but there really are no bad parts of the island!

Reflection

I found these palms gently swaying in the evening breeze on the Coronado Golf Course the other night.  In this pleasant setting I was lulled into a moment of peaceful contemplation, when I heard a man bellow "Fore!" followed by "Lady, you're gonna get hit!"

This quote by Confucius seems appropriate, since I really do strive to learn through reflection, but still discover wisdom the hard way sometimes.

"By three methods we may learn wisdom:

First, by reflection, which is noblest;

Second, by imitation, which is easiest;

And third, by experience, which is bitterest."

~ Confucius

Have a wonderful weekend!

A Bridge with a View

The view from the Coronado Bay Bridge is gorgeous, but unless you're a passenger in the car, it is impossible to take your eyes off the road for more than a second.  The other day my husband was driving us over the bridge and I grabbed the camera for these two quick shots, to give you a better idea of what this lovely little island looks like.  Seriously, only try this from the passenger seat!

Look at the background of the island, and you'll see the Hotel Del with its pointed red roof, the tall condominium buildings of The Shores, and in the lower photo Point Loma looms in the distance across the bay.  Coronado Municipal Golf Course takes center stage.

It's Almost Tee Time!

It's always a good time to play at the Coronado Municipal Golf Course!

Golf Course and the Bridge

I got this shot from the Club House at the Coronado Municipal Golf Course.  The Club House offers good food and a great view.
